Welcome to Luxury Camping - Under the Milky Way. Come and stay close to nature in one of our luxurious and romantic bell tents, situated in a spectacular part of North Devon with it's famous surf beaches, moors and stunning countryside...
We have three lovely Tents and one Shepherd Hut each with their own private wet room/shower, set well apart from another in our 10 acres of gently sloping fields and steep wooded valleys.
There are a number of activities available in the area and all very close by. These being watersports, beaches, hiking, theme parks, zoos, arts and crafts to name but a few.
“Amazing amount of space and decor lovely... nice position and flat.”
“Very welcoming and I particularly like how friendly Bridget and Gus were but also the way checked daily that we were ok and had everything we needed.”
A little piece of heaven on earth. We have visited for 3 consecutive years and have had the most magical experience camping here. The location is stunning and Bridget and Gus are so welcoming. The area is full of adventures and good old fashioned family fun. Come rain or shine, the tents are very cosy, and sitting out in the evening looking up to the stars is good for the soul. It is a privilege to spend time in such a wonderful place that just keeps drawing us back.
Wonderful peaceful and secluded website. We had a wonderful week here. The tents contain everything you need and are very comfortable. Beaches are a very short drive away and lots of other family attractions. The campsite is very secluded and it was wonderful sitting out at night watching all the wildlife (we had a regular frog visitor) and stars. The individual bathrooms were great and we had everything we needed. Bridget is very welcoming and we loved Woof the dog. I think our best recommendation is that our 4 year old daughter refused to get into her car seat and cried on leaving.
An attractive and peaceful location. We stayed here for a week in July 2014. I found it peaceful and relaxing. My two children, aged 5 and 7, had a lovely time and spent most of the time playing outside with friends when we were onsite - there are no cars in the camping field. The coast and countryside around Combe Martin is attractive, and the pubs all seem to have gardens and playgrounds. We were always able to find something fun and interesting to do. Under the Milky Way is well run, with a light touch, and the facilities are as described. All in all, a happy discovery for us!
Relaxed Camping. A long weekend of relaxing under canvas with the family in pleasant surroundings with everything we needed laid on. The site was quiet and secluded and the owners were attentive and nothing was to much trouble.
Everything you could wish for. We recently spent a week Under the Milky Way . The tent had everything we could wish for and the facilities were excellent. Bridget was very attentive and checked on us daily to see if we needed anything such as more wood for the stove. The stove kept us toasty warm at night as the usual British weather for August wasn't the best. We found plenty of activities in the area to suit everyone's needs. On a clear night the stars are amazing to just sit and enjoy. A great week away so, Thanks again Bridget and Gus.
lovely spot
Super location, a charming and peaceful site. The tents were kitted out with everything we needed, hosts were very accomodating, and the children loved it.
The grounds are cosy enough to make friends, but spacious enough to allow room to play without getting under any one's feet.
Easy access to all the attractions in the area, including the superb Woolacombe beach.
Would certainly recommend to anyone considering a stay.
Beautiful spot!
Our first experience of glamping and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Loved the cosy tents, the wood burner and the peace and quiet of life under the stars. The BBQ and camp fire was great in the evenings too. Excellent base for walks in Exmoor and along the coast. We enjoyed the beach at Croyde, and the cream tea at Mortehoe!
Lovely stay
We have had a lovely stay, the tents are roomy with everything you could need, complete with a great wood burner. Only 4 tents on site which meant it was really peaceful and great to have your own bathroom. Bridget and Gus were really welcoming and as we didn't know the area offered tips on places to go. Thank you.
A little gem!
This was our first experience glamping, but we are seasoned campers. A lovely out of the way place, with a great welcome. The kids loved that they could run around and be safe. The tents and kitchen area are well kitted out. Would definitely recommend.
Loved it!
We had such a fab time, so lucky with the weather. We stayed in the Shepherds hut and the beds were so comfy, had the best night's sleep! Hut had everything you needed, in a lovely setting. Everything spotlessly clean and Bridget & Gus so welcoming and helpful. We lucked out and had the place to ourselves, and had such a good time we immediately booked to go again the following weekend 🙂 Fab location, so close to Croyde, Putscombe and Woolacombe beaches. Local amenities down at Combe Martin. Our new fave weekend place 🙂
Peace and tranquility
Our family with 2 little boys throughly enjoyed the glamping experience here. The site was well equipment and clean, the tents were not too close to each other and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The site is very close to lots of fantastic things to do. The only slight downside was the shower was lovely and warm but not very powerful. A things to do in the area booklet would also be quite helpful.
Fantastic spot
We had a fantastic week at Under the Milky Way in July. It was our second visit. We love the set up of the tents with lots of space for the kids to run around. The tents themselves are well-equipped and the owners, Bridget and Gus, are so friendly and helpful. Under the Milky Way is a good base for surfing, kayaking, horse riding and exploring the local countryside and coast. We hope to be back next year.
Lovely spot in lovely Devon
A lovely find, cosy campsite nestled away in lovely Devon! Even though we had typically British weather the trip was fab! The tents and facilities were great and the owners were a lovely couple who helped with anything we asked! Looking forward to another trip 🙂
Great family break
Great place to stay! This is a well run and friendly site. Perfect location for both the beach at Woolacombe and for exploring Exmoor
Ideal for our young family
A fully equipped and private little village of bell tents. Lots of space for children to run free, which allowed for us to sit and relax
The perfect relaxing getaway with lots of activities if you want!
An extremely comfortable glamping site with excellent facilities. The site is a little out of the way but within easy driving distance of surf spots, amazing hikes and great food. The walk over the hill (~30-40 mins) Is perfect for building up an appetite before dining at Combe Martin. Would definitely go again! Also, Bridget is lovely!
Fantastic holiday in a quiet and well looked after location
Helpful and friendly owner, always ready to provide us with some local knowledge. The tent and living space was great, had everything you need and a lovely style. The place is some distance from the nearest pub (about 50min walk down a steep hill) but if you are after a quiet chill out and like walking/driving it’s only a bonus to be away from the crowds. Definitely recommend this place!
A haven of Happiness
Amazingly equipped units you will not believe the creature comforts they have , incredible attentive hosts , lots of space for children to enjoy the outdoors , supplies of wood for the fire pits and internal log burners ( yes inside the bell tents) , wonderful location just in faint earshot of the local Zoo , Lion noises just like being on safari . Fantastic covered kitchen area outside , you can cook whatever the weather , great wet rooms , one for each unit , it does not get better then this , go there!!!
4 nights here with my sons (7 & 10). Lovely quiet spot (aside from occasional night-time animal noises from nearby zoo😀), facilities clean & well-thought out, Bridget so friendly & helpful, easy access to local beaches & sights, lots of space on campsite for kids to play safely, pitches located far enough from each other to give privacy while overall layout makes it easy to interact with other guests, and a really good family vibe to the whole place. Boys verdict - 'best camping trip ever'.
Lovely weekend getaway
We stayed in the shepherd's hut. It was bigger than we expected and the log fire kept us nice and cosy in the rain. The location was great and Bridget was very helpful. I would fully recommend staying here. The outside cooking shelter was perfect. They had everything that we needed.
